PopNow video generation
Public MIT video workflow for the paid PopNow service. This directory edition uses an existing API-key MCP connection, obtains a live USD quote and asks for approval before generation. Requires an MCP-enabled client; no OpenClaw-specific runtime test is claimed.

# PopNow video generation
This directory edition adapts the public PopNow video workflow to the current API-key USD billing contract. It uses an existing remote MCP connection rather than depending on relative script files that are not bundled with this page.
Official setup and current tool schemas: https://popnow.ai/docs/mcp
Official server: https://api.popnow.ai/mcp
Original public MIT skill and client files: https://github.com/popnow-ai/popnow-skills/tree/main/skills/popnow-video
## Prerequisites and billing
Use this workflow only when the client already has an API-key-authenticated PopNow MCP connection. If the connection is missing, explain the prerequisite and link to the official setup documentation. Do not invent a key, request that a secret be pasted into chat, or claim a connection has been tested.
API-key requests spend the separate API USD balance, not website credits. OAuth uses website credits and a different approval contract; do not run this API-key workflow through an OAuth-only connection. A free MIT skill does not include free media generation. Do not convert website-credit approvals into API USD approvals.
## Workflow
1. Establish the user's brief: subject, action, camera movement, setting and mood. Ask for a reference image only for image-to-video. Keep content suitable for a general audience and use media the user is entitled to use.
2. Inspect the connection's current tool schema and use `list_models` with `category: "video"` to find a model supporting the requested operation and fields. Use read-only `check_balance` to inspect API USD funds. Do not copy old price tables or assume model names, durations or resolutions remain available.
3. Under the current API-key contract, call `create_video` with the chosen prompt, model and supported fields but without an approval cap. This is the quote-only step: expect `needs_confirmation: true`, `currency: "USD"`, `cost_usd` and `available_usd`. If the live documented schema no longer guarantees quote-only behavior, stop and consult the official documentation instead of risking a charge.
4. Show the exact quoted USD amount, relevant output settings and available API balance. Ask whether the user wants that generation. Never treat the initial request as approval for an unspecified price.
5. Only after an explicit approval, repeat the same generation arguments with `currency: "USD"` and decimal-string `max_usd` copied from the approved `cost_usd`. Do not send a JSON number or `max_credits`. If the tool asks for confirmation again or reports a changed quote, obtain fresh approval; do not silently increase the cap, duration, resolution or model price.
6. When a `job_id` is returned, use `get_job` for that same job, with the documented wait interval, until it succeeds or reaches a terminal failure. A timeout is not permission to create a second paid job. Preserve the job ID and report uncertainty if status cannot be established.
7. Return the successful media link and final reported cost. Download only if requested and permitted in the client's environment. Do not promise a permanent download URL. Do not add paid extension, editing, music or upscale jobs without a separate quoted approval.
## Errors and limits
- Insufficient API funds: explain the API balance requirement and link to https://popnow.ai/api/console/billing . Website credits cannot be spent in its place.
- Unsupported field or unavailable model: consult the live schema; do not silently substitute a more expensive model.
- Rejected or failed generation: report the returned status and reason. Do not claim a refund has completed without evidence from the service.
- Authentication failure: stop, explain the connection problem, and keep credentials out of public text, logs and submitted forms.
- The directory entry is a distribution of instructions, not a security certification or a claim of OpenClaw runtime testing.
