Discord Timestamp Generator

fazal By fazal 👁 20 views ▲ 0 votes

Adds the free discordtimestampgen.com remote MCP server to OpenClaw. Ask for "8pm New York time next Friday" and get all 7 Discord timestamp styles (t, T, d, D, f, F, R), which show in every reader's own timezone. It also decodes any Discord user, message, server or channel ID (snowflake) to its creation date. Nothing runs locally, and there is no API key or config.

README

# Discord Timestamp Generator for OpenClaw

Make Discord `<t:unix:F>` timestamp codes from any date, time and timezone, and decode Discord IDs (snowflakes) to creation dates. Wraps the free remote MCP server at discordtimestampgen.com.

This plugin adds the [discordtimestampgen.com](https://discordtimestampgen.com) remote MCP server to [OpenClaw](https://openclaw.ai). Nothing runs locally: OpenClaw connects to `https://discordtimestampgen.com/mcp` over Streamable HTTP. No API key, no account, no config.

## Install

```bash
openclaw plugins install git:github.com/fazal-bhinder/openclaw-discord-timestamp
```

Or from a local checkout: `openclaw plugins install ./openclaw-discord-timestamp`. Then check it loaded with `openclaw plugins inspect discord-timestamp`. The tools are available from the next agent session.

## Usage

1. Install the plugin (see above) and start a new agent session.
2. Check it loaded: `openclaw plugins inspect discord-timestamp` should list the tools below.
3. Ask in plain language. The agent picks the tool. For example:

   - "Make a Discord timestamp for 8pm New York time next Friday"
   - "Give me the relative timestamp for 1 January 2027, 09:00 UTC"
   - "When was Discord ID 1038530174498635856 created?"

No setup or configuration is needed.

## Data and permissions

- The plugin adds one remote MCP server, `https://discordtimestampgen.com/mcp` (Streamable HTTP). It has no local code, needs no permissions and runs nothing on your machine.
- Each tool call sends only its arguments to that server: the date, time and timezone you ask about, or the Discord ID you want decoded.
- No API key, account, OpenClaw config, local files or conversation history are sent.

## Tools

OpenClaw prefixes MCP tools with the server name, so they appear as `discord-timestamp__<tool>`.

| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| `discord-timestamp__discord_timestamp` | Turn a moment (Unix time, ISO datetime, or local date + time + IANA timezone) into Discord timestamp codes for all 7 styles: t, T, d, D, f, F, R. |
| `discord-timestamp__decode_discord_snowflake` | Decode a Discord user, message, server or channel ID into its creation date. |

## Try asking

- "Make a Discord timestamp for 8pm New York time next Friday."
- "When was the Discord account with ID 175928847299117063 created?"

The site also has a JSON API (`/api/timestamp`, `/api/formats`) described in [openapi.json](https://discordtimestampgen.com/openapi.json), if you want to call it without MCP.

## Manual setup (without the plugin)

Add the server to your OpenClaw config yourself:

```json
{
  "mcp": {
    "servers": {
      "discord-timestamp": { "url": "https://discordtimestampgen.com/mcp", "transport": "streamable-http" }
    }
  }
}
```

## Check

`npm test` (or `node check.mjs`) calls the live server and asserts a real result. Needs Node 18+ and no dependencies.

## Files

- `openclaw.plugin.json`: the native OpenClaw manifest. It declares the remote server under `mcpServers`.
- `.claude-plugin/plugin.json` and `.mcp.json`: the same server in the Claude bundle format, which OpenClaw and ClawHub also read.

## About

Made by [Fazal Singh Bhinder](https://github.com/fazal-bhinder), who also runs [discordtimestampgen.com](https://discordtimestampgen.com). The server is free and read-only. MIT licensed.
